So basically I guess Photoshop is my form of multimedia art - layers, elements, images, textures..they can be put together in so many different ways, one on top of the other. Today I wanted to do a valentine - and since I've been designing collages lately, I decided to try a valentine collage. But instead of filling each square with a different picture, Mac showed me how to layer an image underneath the frames to make it look like a multitude of small pictures placed together to make up a single whole. Here's to Stephanie and Josh - happy valentine's day to two of our favorite newlyweds!

Valentine's Day is coming!
Okay I admit it.....when people want to have fun, some go to the beach, some to the movies, some go shopping, some go hiking, some knit, some hang out....however, while I love doing those things when I REALLY want to relax and have fun I get into Photoshop and start playing. Must be some of the frustrated artist coming out - growing up I watched both my Dad and my sister create beautiful works of art with ink and oils and pastels and watercolors. I - on the other hand - couldn't draw my way out of a paper bag (really!). I think I latched onto photography (and if I have to admit this too - needlework, lampwork, beading, jewelry making, wire working, a recent shot at knitting, and I still have a yen to try my hand at weaving and spinning one of these days...) because it allowed me to be an "artist" even though I didn't use a brush like "true" artists. Now of course, multimedia is all the rage and there is some really exceptional work being done out there - for example, consider this piece made by polymer clay artist Christi Friesen - what fun!
